The City is excited to announce that they have reached agreements with two new businesses to locate in Durand this year! The first new development project is planned to begin construction in May and includes an 8,000 sq.ft. Family Dollar store. The store will feature a wide variety of products to enhance your shopping needs in the Durand area. Additionally, there is a potential to add 2,500 sq.ft. of retail space to the building. If you are interested in leasing the retail space, please contact Maureen Carlson, of 3D Strategies, Inc. at 834-0005. According to the owner of building, Paul Abdo, he will only build the additional 2,500 sq.ft. of space if he has a signed lease prior to starting construction on the Family Dollar store. The estimated completion date of the project is August, 2008. Made possible by the Oreel Family’s generous donation of the Hardees property, the City has also reached agreement with a development group to construct and operate a new 31-room Cobblestone Inn & Suites. Construction of the hotel project is slated to begin this fall with a grand opening anticipated in Spring of 2009. According to WHG Company President Mark Pomerenke, “the Cobblestone Inn & Suites of Durand will offer guests the luxurious feel found in upscale hotels, in a small town atmosphere at a mid-scale price. We look forward to becoming a part of the Durand Community.”
